Newton Park View

This project involved the extension and remodel of an existing bungalow in Chester. As part of the project works a new porch was designed in order to create a generous main entrance alongside rear kitchen and bedroom extensions.

A key concern for both the Client and Planners was to enhance the existing property without detracting from the original dwelling and existing street scene. The extensions were designed in such a way as to provide a consistent aesthetic on the front of the property, with a more contemporary approach being used on the rear.

It was important to maximise the potential use of space within the scheme as the Client was downsizing from a larger family home. The rear extension provides a larger open plan kitchen and dining space with strong connections to the rear garden, alongside the introduction of additional natural light through the use of large areas of glazing.

An additional bedroom was also added to the dwelling in order to provide the opportunity for extended family to visit comfortably.

Base Architects managed the scheme from the initial design concept through to completion of the onsite construction phase of works, with a key focus throughout being to ensure that the future comfort of the Client was considered at all stages.
