This project was carried out in tandem with the previous listed barn scheme at Berrington.
Overview
This project was carried out in tandem with the previous listed barn scheme at Berrington and focused on the development of a planning and listed building application to convert an existing stable block into an open market dwelling.
Due to the stables curtilage listed nature an external Heritage Consultant was engaged to assist in progressing the design for a planning application submission.
What We Did
Extensive consultation was held with the local Conservation Officer who had concerns regarding the proximity of an adjacent village church.
The internal configuration and design was proposed around the existing built constraints such as first floor trusses and original structural ties, whilst also considering room sizes which would appeal to the open market upon completion.
The result
The final design took into consideration all site constraints and maintained the original character to the barns.
The planning application was approved and Base Architects then undertook the Building Regulations, Tender and Contract Administration of the onsite construction stage of works.
