Overview
Formed on a new site by the merging of two smaller 11-16 schools (Greencroft Business and Enterprise Community School and Stanley School of Technology) the £31 million North Durham Academy will become a much larger 11-19 school, planned for 1500 students aged 11-16 and 200 aged 16-19.
What We Did
At its heart are its specialism in Business and Enterprise with an emphasis on providing learning environments which reflect the world of work into which its pupils will progress.
Its Year 7 areas were designed to incorporate different learning environments and learning / teaching approaches to assist pupils in their transition from primary to a secondary school environment.
The result
The smaller size of the predecessor schools was considered to have advantages not just in terms of monitoring but also socially and the intent is to provide a larger school but with a small school feeling / ethos.
