The design focused on turning a formally enclosed and dark rear courtyard into a vibrant and functional kitchen space.

What We Did
Base Architects not only managed the Planning Application stage of work but also undertook the Building Regulations, Tender and Contract Administration providing our concept to completion service for the scheme.
This project involved the creation of a new kitchen within the existing courtyard of an existing ground floor apartment, alongside reconfiguration of the living, dining and bathroom.
The result
Due to the nature of the project we were unable to introduce any windows to the external walls so the inclusion of a large aluminium framed lantern to the roof of the former courtyard ensures that a high level of natural daylight is introduced into the environment.
The bathroom was also subject to a refit and re-roof to provide the unique domed ceiling allowing our client’s unique vision to come to life.
